The Zodiac War (
Background[]
While much of the history which lead to the establishment of the Zodiac War is kept vague, the organizers are said to be extremely influential, not only because they're capable of granting the winners any wish they desire (such as the resurrection of deceased individuals) but also because, once a warrior has been selected, refusing the invitation means death. The organizers are also capable of selecting very expensive venues as arenas for the wars, with the ninth war using a space station and the twelfth being an entire metropolitan city, which had to be completely evacuated. Although unknown to the warriors, the true purpose of the war is for a select few influential people to bet entire countries as chips. The war is held once every twelve years, and the rules of the competition change for each war. The only known individual working under the event organizers is Duodecuple, the referee of the twelfth war.
Wars[]
Fourth War[]
The only detail given about the fourth Zodiac War is that its theme was "the prohibition of carrying weapons".[2]
Eighth War[]
The only detail given about the eighth Zodiac War is that it was won by a then twelve-year-old Sir Cancer, who ended up the victor twelve minutes after starting, but wished to be kept off the record, so no one else knows this.[3]
Ninth War[]
A few details about the ninth Zodiac War are known, such as the venue being a space station and the winner being Hitsujii, who also went on to fight in the twelfth war.
Twelfth War[]
The twelfth Zodiac War, portrayed in the novel Zodiac War. Twelve warriors named after the eastern zodiac signs are gathered in an abandoned metropolitan city and each fed a highly poisonous crystal known as a Beast Gem (
