Yorutsuki Hitsuuchi (櫃内(ひつうち) 夜月(よるつき), Hitsūchi Yorutsuki) is a character from the Sekai Series. She is a second year student at Outouin Private Academy and the younger sister of Samatoki Hitsuuchi.

Personality

Yorutsuki is a shy and reserved girl. Due to the bullying she suffered in elementary school, she remains unable to open up to anyone aside from her brother. In public, she is polite and keeps her head down, trying not to stand out much. Around Samatoki, she is more lively and shows more of her true self, talking in a childish manner, referring to herself in third person. She is quick to blush when shown physical affection from her brother, becoming embarrased easily. Even around him, however, she has issues stating her true feelings, often beating around the bush before getting to the point. Her hobby is reading and arranging her bookshelves by various themes, such as the color of the spine, the publisher or the size. She appears to be more well-versed in the mystery genre, being aware of more advanced concepts like the Late Queen Problem.

Yorutsuki's attachment to her brother is abnormal, the girl being overly dependent on him, an attitude fostered by his overprotective behavior throughout her life. She is scared of him distancing himself from her, which is why she becomes very jealous when Rokunin Kazusawa spreads rumors of Samatoki and Ririsu Kotohara being together. Yorutsuki is revealed to be highly mentally unstable, her mind being emotionally stunted due to the trauma of her past bullying. The only thing preventing any past outbursts was a fragile equilibrium, and when it finally fell apart and her brother rejected her for the first time, it led a frenzied, desperate reaction.

Appearance

Yorutsuki is a slender teenage girl with long, straight brown hair and round eyes. She is shown wearing the Outouin Academy uniform, consisiting of a gray short-sleeved sailor uniform with puffed shoulders, a black ribbon with a white stripe and a brown short skirt. She also wears black knee-high socks and a white headband.

Background

During her second year of elementary school, Yorutsuki suffered intense bullying, leading to her closing her heart from others. When her older brother, Samatoki, noticed the abuse, he broke her leg in order to forcibly hospitalize her, and extracted the names of the ones for the harassment from her (violently, as she was at first reluctant to speak; he would later come to regret his cruel means). After carefully planning the deed, he "punished" the five bullies who targeted her, along with a few other unrelated targets in order to camouflage his intentions. His actions were quickly discovered, however, and since a parent of one of the five was an executive of the PTA, the problem was exacerbated. In the end, while there was no police involvement, the Hitsuuchi family had to move far away thanks to the incident.

The siblings were enrolled in public schools until middle school, but Yorutsuki's parents, noticing her intellect, decided the better course of action would be to have her study at a private school, an idea which Samatoki also agreed with; Yorutsuki herself, however, protested, as she didn't want to be separated from her brother. Thus, Samatoki changed his school of choice to Outouin and worked to raise his standard score by five points in order to get in.

• Yorutsuki's last name, Hitsuuchi, means "inside the chest".
• Yorutsuki's first name means "evening moon".
• Yorutsuki is heavily implied to be the same character as Asahi Honna, a minor character appearing in the epilogue of Uprooted Radical (Part Three): The Blue Savant and the Nonsense User due to various similarities that the two share.
