Yayoi Sashirono (佐代野(さしろの) 弥生(やよい), Sashirono Yayoi) is a character from the Zaregoto Series and the Saikyou Series. She is a genius, world-renowned chef invited to Wet Crow's Feather Island by Ilia Akagami.

Personality

Yayoi gives off the impression of a normal, amiable and kind person. She is humble, disregarding her own abilities as inconsequential when compared to the others invited to the island, and generally comes across as the person with the most common sense among the geniuses on the island. She seems to fare poorly in stressful situations, becoming highly paranoid after learning of the murders taking place on the island, her behavior being spurred by the other guests' relatively disinterested reactions to the deaths. She is also shown to be a cowardly person, unable to confess about the discrepancy in Ilia's testimony for quite some time. Even so, she is able to follow Iichan's plan and fool the other guests with her acting, showing a more devious side, though she admits that most of what she said were her genuine thoughts.

Appearance

Yayoi is a young woman around thirty years of age, with yellow eyes and short light blonde hair in a bob haircut with straight bangs. She is shown wearing her white chef's outfit, as well as casual clothing such as a black short sleeved shirt with a purple ribbon, white shorts with black stockings and brown shoes, as well as a black shirt and purple and black striped pants with black shoes.

In the Saikyou Series, Yayoi is shown to be slightly older, with her hair at the same length, but with the bangs parted to the side. In this state, she is shown wearing a black chef's outfit and a pair of yellow spherical earrings.

Background

Due to her hypersensitive sense of taste, Yayoi realized that her only path in life would be to become a cook. She studied gastronomy in the West, and became a world-renowned chef, who was said to be able to make any dish taste amazing. Yayoi was invited to Wet Crow's Feather Island, and went on to become its longest staying guest.

Abilities and Equipment

• Hypersensitive Tongue: The main trait which sets Yayoi apart from an average person is her superhuman sense of taste. Her tongue is so sensitive that it is able to discern the type of someone's blood by licking their sweat.
• Cooking Abilities: Yayoi is regarded as one of the best cooks in the world, enough to earn her a place on Ilia Akagami's island. She is said to be able to make any dish taste amazing. According to her own words, her skill is the result of a lot of hard work and practice, as well as her natural sensitive tongue.
