Rizumu Niounomiya (匂宮(におうのみや) 理澄(りずむ), Niōnomiya Rizumu), also known as Carnival (人喰い(カーニバル), Kānibaru, lit. "Cannibal") is a character from the Zaregoto Series. She is the Great Detective of the Niounomiya Troupe and the little sister and split personality of Izumu Niounomiya. Together, they make up an assassination duo. During her stay at the Saitou Clinic, she used the name Touka Yukimura (幸村(ゆきむら) 冬夏(とうか), Yukimura Tōka).

It is later revealed that they aren't actually a split personality at all, but twins, using the facade of a split personality as a way to let Izumu move freely, with Rizumu being a puppet controlled remotely by him. Before retiring, she was the Third Step of the Thirteen Stairs. When she joined, she was the Eighth Step.

Personality

Rizumu is the embodiment of naivety and innocence. She bears all of Izumu's weaknesses, so that he may have his overwhelming strength. As such, she is overly empathic, prone to telling everyone that she loves them. She is gullible, easily falling for Kasuga Kasugai's lies. Although she appears incompetent at first glance, she is actually a highly skilled detective deserving of her moniker, being the main information gatherer of the Thirteen Stairs for a while until her death. She had a strange relationship with Takashi Saitou, with the man often hitting her on the head in response to her outlandish claims. While Izumu said that Takashi was the only one looking out for her, it did not appear that he cared much about her, not appearing to grieve at all after her death and immediately replacing her in the Thirteen Stairs. Izumu said that she loved the Nonsense User, and requested him to become her friend, as her weakness causes her to be trampled upon by others all the time. Izumu claimed that she was the one handling everyday activities like doing laundry during the time they were together.

Appearance

Rizumu is identical in appearance to Izumu, having a thin and pale body with long limbs. She has long black hair and yellow eyes. She always a pair of green glasses. She is always shown using her signature black mantle with a red ribbon over Izumu's straitjacket, which restrains her arms. She also wears a pair of black high heeled shoes and kneesock-length bandages on her legs, as well as a gauze on her head.

Background

Izumu and Rizumu are a part of the Niounomiya Troupe, the strongest of the Killing Names. Their mental link, as well as Izumu's powerful body, are creations of the Kitsuregawa Research Institute. However, their overwhelming strength became so unparalleled that even the Niounomiya abandoned them. Afterwards, they were picked up by Takashi Saitou as the Seventh and Eighth Steps of the Thirteen Stairs, and continued working under the man's orders, eventually climbing the ranks to Third and Fourth Step.

Abilities and Equipment

• Fieldwork (調査(フィールドワーク), Fīrudo Wāku, lit. "Investigation"): In the Niounomiya Siblings' assassination duo, Rizumu is in charge of investigating the target and finding out the best way to take them out, as well as to gain their trust with her natural innocence (a task she does automatically, without knowing about the objective of assassination). She can also be controlled remotely by Izumu, and the information she sees is transmitted to him.
