The Layout Guide is a resource detailing the basic structure of every type of article on the NISIOISIN Wiki.

Character Pages[]

Character pages must start with a Tabber, linking to the Summary page of the character and their Image Gallery (if applicable), followed by a defining Quote (if applicable), the Character Infobox and finally, the Appearance Infobox.

The article text then begins with the character name in bold, alongside their Japanese name and its romanization, as such: Forename Surname (KANJI(HIRAGANA), Surname Forename) (Note: characters with western names will have their names displayed in western order).

The first paragraph is made up of a sentence about their role in the story (protagonist, main heroine, main character, character, minor character, main antagonist, antagonist) and the series they come from, followed by a few words about their general role in the context of the story's world.

Character pages feature the following sections (those in bold must be featured on every page, while others can be skipped if not applicable):

  • Personality: A description of their personality, behavior, motivations, opinions etc.
    • Relationships: A description of each meaningful character dynamic the character has with other characters in the same story.
  • Appearance: A description of their physical appearance and clothing.
  • Background: A description of their personal history.
  • Abilities & Equipment: A list of significant skills, powers, tools or weapons. Use Template:Ability Box or Template:Equipment Box if applicable.
  • Appellations: A table featuring the manner in which the character refers to other characters, as well as the way in which other characters refer to the character, as well as the original Japanese for it.
  • Quotes: A list of notable quotes which serve to characterize them. Use Template:Quote Box.
  • Trivia
  • References
  • Navigation: Followed by a relevant Navbox.

Location / Concept / Organization Pages[]

The layout of such pages can differ depending on the specific topic of the article. The first paragraph is a general description of the article's topic (in the case of a school, the article would begin with the School Infobox).

Sections that might appear on such pages:

  • Information: Detailed information about the article's topic.
  • People / Students / Members / Residents: A list of characters relevant to the article's topic.

Novel Pages[]

Novel pages must start with a Tabber, linking to the Summary page of the character and their Image Gallery (if applicable), followed by the Novel Infobox.

The article text begins with the book's English title in bold, alongside the Japanese title and its romanization, as such: English Title (KANJI(HIRAGANA), Romanized Title). The first paragraph is made up of a sentence about the series the book belongs to (if any), the writer and illustrator of the book and the release date.

Novel pages feature the following sections (those in italics must be featured on every page, while others can be skipped if not applicable):

  • Synopsis: The official synopsis given out by the book's publisher.
  • Contents: A list of the book's chapters (excluded in special cases where the book has no chapters / titled sections).
  • Characters: A list of characters appearing or mentioned in the book. New characters' names will be displayed in bold.
  • Locations: A list of notable locations featured in the book.
  • References
  • Navigation: Novel Navigation (and any other relevant Navboxes).

Volume Pages[]

Manga volume pages must start with the Volume Infobox, followed by the title of the volume in bold, alongside its Japanese title and its romanization (English Title (KANJI(HIRAGANA), Romanized Title)), the series it belongs to and the writer and illustrator. Then, a sentence about when the volume was published.

Volume pages feature the following sections:

  • Synopsis: The official synopsis given out by the volume's publisher.
  • Contents: A list linking to each individual chapter contained within the volume.
  • Characters: A list of characters appearing or mentioned in the volume.
  • Color Pages: A gallery of the volume's color pages, if it has any.
  • References
  • Navigation: Manga Navigation (and any other relevant Navboxes).

Chapter Pages[]

Chapter pages must start with the Chapter Infobox, followed by the chapter's name in bold, alongside its Japanese title and its romanization (English Title (KANJI(HIRAGANA), Romanized Title)), the series it belongs to and the writer and illustrator.

Chapter pages feature the following sections:

  • Summary: A summary of the chapter's plot.
  • Characters: A list of characters in order of appearance.

Summary Pages[]

Summary pages must begin with the Tabber linking back to the main page and any other related pages.

A character summary page will be structured as such:

  • A section with a book the character appears in
    • A subsection of the particular chapter they have a role in

A book summary page will be structured as such:

  • A section of the summarized chapter

Gallery Pages[]

Gallery pages must begin with the Tabber linking back to the main page and any other related pages.

A character gallery page will be structured as such (sections that don't apply can be skipped):

  • Novel Images
    • Covers
    • Illustrations
  • Manga Images
    • Covers
    • Chapter Covers
    • Other (for any random art taken from a manga chapter)
  • Anime Images
    • Promotional Art
    • End Cards
    • Other (for any screenshots of an episode)
  • Miscellaneous (for any other official art of the character that doesn't fit in the other categories)

A novel gallery page has no sections, and will instead feature the cover(s) of the book, followed by every inner illustration in order, with the back cover of the book at the end.

A series gallery page will be structured as such (sections that don't apply can be skipped):

  • Novel Images
    • Series (if there's only one series, this doesn't apply)
      • Covers
      • Illustrations
  • Manga Images
    • Series (if there's only one series, this doesn't apply)
      • Covers
      • Chapter Covers
