Michiru Fukuroi (
Personality[]
Michiru is generally a taciturn and composed individual, only showing bouts of mild annoyance. Due to his reputation as a delinquent, Mayumi Doujima initially finds him intimidating, although he never really expresses any true aggression toward her. He is a witty and sarcastic individual, often coming up with sardonic similes to compare the current situation with, and he generally serves as a more down-to-earth and laid back member of the club; often serving as the straight man to the more outlandish antics of the other boys. While generally a fairly peaceful man, he has threatened to use violence against the Twenties, though this proposition was quickly shot down by Manabu Soutouin.
He hates wasting food, and was even willing to eat a piece of meat covered in sand after Mayumi dropped it, saying that he is used to eating off the ground, hinting at a harsh background. One of the few times he is shown acting hostile is when it comes to cooking, showing his extremely high standards for the art. He is also quite the terrible gambler, having been shown to lose almost all of his money at the Reasonable Doubt Casino, although he ended up getting it all back through one last gamble. He reportedly has a rivalry with Nagahiro Sakiguchi over their opposite positions on the social ladder of the school, although he puts this feud on break during club activities. Like the other members of the club, he is loyal to the president (often giving Mayumi advice and trying to help her integrate into the club) showing a more caring side hidden beneath his rough exterior. Additionally, he is acquainted with Morisaka, a member of the police force, although the nature of their connection is unclear.
Appearance[]
Michiru is a tall young man with sharp, thin red eyes and longer, straight red hair, which usually covers his left eye. He is usually shown wearing the Yubiwa Academy uniform, a dark green unbuttoned blazer over a white shirt with a black collar and no tie, as well as black and white striped pants with red and black shoes. Often, he can be seen wearing an apron and a handkerchief on his head within the club room, for the sake of cooking.
In his manga redesign, he is portrayed to look more broad with shorter, messier hair with a strand going between his eyes and an ahoge. Additionally, the Yubiwa Academy uniform is slightly different, having red lapels and lacking the striped pants.
Background[]
Although his past is never fully revealed, their are still plenty of clues that can help us paint a decent picture: Michiru admitting that he had to live off food from the ground in the past, meaning that he was either homeless or grew up in poverty;[2] he's also familiar with inspector Morisaka, hinting at the fact he may have run into trouble with the law in the past;[3] After enrolling in Yubiwa Academy, he acquired a reputation as one of the school's most infamous and dangerous delinquents; And eventually, he met Manabu Soutouin and became a member of the Pretty Boy Detective Club, the secret organization subject to many rumors around the school.[1]
Abilities and Equipment[]
- Cooking: Michiru is a very proficient cook, able to produce gourmet-level meals. Upon tasting Michiru's food, Mayumi's first reaction is to spit it out, because it is so delicious that her taste buds can't withstand it unprepared.[2] Even the tea he brews is good enough to prompt the same reaction from the girl.
