Meiro Byouinzaka (病院坂(びょういんざか) 迷路(めいろ), Byōinzaka Meiro), also known as the Silent Clearing Order (静(しず)かなる人払(ひとばら)い令(れい), Shizuka naru Hitobarairei) and the One Great Weirdo (一人奇人(いちにんきじん), Ichinin Kijin), is a character from the Sekai Series. She is a second year student at Kazusaen Private Academy, the sole member of the wind music club, a friend of Choushi Kushinaka and the cousin of Kuroneko Byouinzaka.

Personality

Meiro's most memorable trait is her total silence; she never says a word, and yet her face is so expressive that she can communicate her exact thoughts to others through it. She is so dedicated to never directly speak that she doesn't even type text messages, instead only using emoticons. Meiro's personality is similar to that of her cousin on a surface level, being prone to 'talking' very eloquently and in large volumes, though she displays much less overt affection to Choushi Kushinaka than Kuroneko does to Samatoki Hitsuuchi. She is generally more reserved, trying to keep her distance from other people, Choushi having needed to exert continuous effort for weeks in order to befriend her. This is most likely a result of her years of isolation, as normal people are always repelled by her, although she never seems to mind it. Meiro has a tendency to bring up Kuroneko quite often and out of context, which makes Choushi think that Meiro admires her, but it's revealed that they have a pretty bad relationship, Meiro stating that she never wants to become like Kuroneko. Meiro also has a passion for mystery novels, and gets invested into her detective game, trying to find the culprit of Kogushi Kushinaka's murder before the police. She appears to have strange fixations, being reluctant to show Choushi a scheme for her theory of how the murder was carried out because she "finds inserting images into mystery novels improper".

Appearance

Meiro is a teenage girl with short black hair in a bob haircut and magenta eyes with the signature plus signs of the Byouinzaka family. She is always shown crossdressing, wearing a modified version of the male uniform of Kazusaen Private Academy, consisting of a long reddish brown gakuran blazer with gold shoulder pads and buttons, and reddish brown pants.

Background

Like Kuroneko, much of Meiro's past is unknown, but she also comes from the wealthy Byouinzaka clan. Due to her heterodoxy nature, upon her enrollment into Kazusaen Private Academy, she was immediately shunned by all of her peers, driving all of her fellow members of the wind music club to retirement, as well as making her every classmate from class 1-B quit school, leading to her being moved to class Z, where she is the sole student. Her extreme repulsiveness has earned her nicknames such as the Silent Clearing Order and the One Great Weirdo, overshadowing even the strangeness of the Ufology Club.

Lamenting over people's deaths comes first, right? Securing everyone's safety comes before trying to stop the culprit, right? However, these great detectives think about the assailant over the victim. They are lacking in humanity, they are missing something important as a person. But how about changing our perspective here? For great detectives, death and murder is a part of their daily life. They are familiar with and have grown accustomed to dead people. That's how they can calmly reason in any kind of situation. Even more so with detectives from novel series. Essentially, humans are creatures capable of adapting to anything; to losing, to running away, they will get used to anything. They might even be able to get used to getting used to something."
