The 8th Box: Stole the Show (第(だい)８箱(はこ)　もっていかれた, Dai 8 Hako: Motte Ikareta) is the eighth chapter of the Medaka Box manga series and its first arc, the Student Council Executive arc, written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Akira Akatsuki. It was collected in the second volume.

Summary

Kizashi Yuubaru, a scholarship student and member of the art club, requests Medaka to model for him in a swimsuit for a picture with the theme of "beach goddess", a request which she agrees to right away. However, as he begins to paint her, he quickly becomes frustrated and gives up, stating that he cannot paint Medaka because her beauty is so perfect that he can't add anything to it, and declares that she has no merit towards fine art, which depresses her. Zenkichi calls him ridiculous, but he states that artists have to be ridiculous. They realize they have no other choice, so they look for someone else.

Zenkichi asks Isagi Isahaya, who initially refuses, but is quickly persuaded when Zenkichi compliments her appearance. Akune, on the other hand, brings out Nabeshima, and the two student council members instantly start fighting over which of their two candidates is more beautiful, irritating the two. Kizashi, on the other hand, tearfully thanks them and says that he'll draw a great picture of them. However, he rejects them too soon after, stating that they're a little too scary, which causes them to join Medaka in depression.

Akune and Zenkichi fret, but then each think to invite Kenna Yatsushiro and Urushi Akizuki respectively, though they're both rejected. Afterwards, Medaka crawls in and tells them that they need to think outside the box, and makes them model for the painting. Although Kizashi is inspired, he quickly realizes that painting them wouldn't fit the theme and throws the canvas away. The models complain that Kizashi is too picky, but he argues that he won't paint what he doesn't want to paint, stating that he'd rather be picky than half-assed. Medaka agrees with his sentiment, but that leaves them in a rut. However, as they're wandering what to do, Shiranui walks in looking for Zenkichi, and Yuubaru is instantly inspired when looking at her youthful body, much to the chagrin of the other models. Akune notes that what he really wanted to paint was a goddess of potential which the other girls didn't fit, and Shiranui celebrates her victory, albeit slightly confused.

Afterwards, as Zenkichi gives the report of the aftermath, Medaka is still depressed, but Zenkichi shows her a painting made by Kizashi of all the models together, noting that he only paints what he wants to, though Medaka is still annoyed that Shiranui is more prominently placed than her.
