The 4th Box: That's Unnecessary Behavior (第(だい)４箱(はこ)　余計(よけい)な真似(まね)だよ, Dai 4 Hako: Yokei na Mane da yo) is the fourth chapter of the Medaka Box manga series and its first arc, the Student Council Executive arc, written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Akira Akatsuki. It was collected in the first volume.

Summary

As Zenkichi is practicing boxing, the team captain warns him to wear gloves in order to not hurt himself, then tells another member of the boxing club that the young man has potential, but the member warns him that Zenkichi is a member of the student council already, and that he's determined to stay by Medaka's side. The next day, during lunch, as Zenkichi runs through the sports clubs he's yet to visit, Hyuuga asks him why he's checking all the sports clubs, to which Zenkichi states that it's a self imposed rule for him to sweat at least five liters a day. Hyuuga warns him that he's becoming infamous as the "Club Typhoon", but Zenkichi states that he doesn't mind, making a name for himself being his goal. Then, hearing this, Hisshuu Kanoya approaches him and asks Zenkichi to come with him. When Hyuuga asks Shiranui if it's safe for Zenkichi to go alone with a man as menacing as Kanoya, Shiranui dismisses the concern, assuring that Zenkichi would be able to do something against him if he had to. Shiranui then explains that Kanoya lost to Kurokami in the student council elections, and that he's most likely looking for revenge. She then notes that Zenkichi still hadn't visited the judo club, wondering why.

Kanoya explains that he is gathering people to stand against Medaka, and invites Zenkichi to join in, noting that his behavior means that he's probably frustrated about his position in the council, and that even someone like him must have something he wants to do. Zenkichi refuses, but Kanoya tells him the time of the meeting, saying that Medaka wouldn't care even if he betrayed her. As Zenkichi complains to himself, Medaka appears behind him, revealing that she'd been there the entire time, and tells Zenkichi that she will take care of the matter herself.

During the meeting of Kanoya's people, as they prepare all kinds of weapons, Zenkichi arrives, stating that it's his wish to protect Medaka, and that punks like Kanoya don't deserve time to reform, telling them to spread the rumor that beside Medaka is her most ferocious dog, and attacking them.

In the judo club, as they spar, Nekomi Nabeshima and Betsuhei Jounan talk about Zenkichi and how he didn't come by their club despite checking every other one out, wondering why. As they converse, Kouki Akune says that Zenkichi is probably just trying to appear strong, calling him an insect and stating that he isn't worthy of standing by Medaka's side.
