Summary[]
Maguro Kurokami looks at the destroyed Door of Rejection, noting it to be Akune's handiwork, then comments that he hadn't been down there in about a year. Meanwhile, Medaka and her group arrive down to the 2nd basement floor and find themselves in what appears to be a traditional Japanese garden, though Medaka quickly points out the artificial sky and explains that it's like a biotope with a controlled temperature and light level. Then, Kei Munakata asks them to close the door after them, explaining that the warmth will get out if they don't. Unou and Sanou Tsushima are the only ones who are alarmed at seeing him, wondering why he's on such an early floor. As Akune closes the door, Medaka apologizes, and then asks him if he's one of the Thirteen Party, which he assents, then saying that he heard about them from the headmaster and that he doesn't have time to fight them, asking them to come by later. Kikaijima asks him if he won't try to stop them, and Munakata explains that he doesn't really like fighting. As Zenkichi Hitoyoshi thinks that the man's response is almost normal, Medaka turns around to leave, but then Munakata pulls out a katana and aims at Medaka's neck from behind. Everyone panics, though she luckily ducks in time, the sword only cutting part of her hair. As Munakata is mildly surprised that she dodged, having been told that she couldn't, everyone else asks what the deal with him is, their voices shaking. Munakata, mistaking the source of their confusion, explains that he's a hidden weapons user, having many different types of weapons in his clothes, though Akune and Zenkichi think that it's not that they were flabbergasted by, but his lack of hesitation in aiming at her neck. Medaka comments that she thought he was too busy to fight them, and Munakata explains that he figured it would be easier to kill her if he'd said that, mentioning that he, unlike Shigusa Takachihp, doesn't "play with his food," but instead goes straight for the kill. Seeing Zenkichi's confusion, the Tsushima twins explain that Munakata's killing techniques are his Abnormality, and that he's on the nation's most wanted list, having performed his first kill at the age of 5, reportedly to "see if people die when he kills them," and since then has piled up countless kills in numerous countries, currently being sheltered by the headmaster in exchange for participating in the Flask Plan, calling him a born killer. In response, Munakata tells them not to talk like he's an indiscriminate murderer, arguing that he always kills for a reason, then listing a variety of seemingly inane reasons, explaining that, while for others they may be nothing, for him they are motives for murder. Adding that his reason for killing them is that the headmaster told him not to, he prepares to unsheathe his katana.
Telling her friends to get behind her, she declares that she'll take Munakata on, though Zenkichi worries that she'll be playing into the headmaster's hands. Then, however, Maguro appears all of a sudden, grabbing Medaka's chest from behind and telling her that she can't fight, since injured people need to rest. In response, she immediately flies into War God Mode, sending Maguro flying into the wall. Zenkichi asks him what he's doing there, and Maguro explains that, wherever his sister is, that's where he'll be. He then tells Medaka to remain in War God Mode, as it makes her injuries heal faster, and tells her that, as her trainer, he'll bench her for a bit, adding that he knew she'd end up pushing herself too hard. Munakata asks who he'll kill in this case, and in response, Maguro says hello to him, asking if he remembers him. Munakata affirms it, saying that he's the one who taught him the hidden weapons technique, grinning intimidatingly as he says that Maguro turned him from a frightening killer into a terrifying one. Maguro, however, maintaining the same nonchalance, says that he's glad to hear that and that he can use the ability however he can, since he's only interested in people's limits, and in that respect, Munakata is his favorite among the Thirteen Party's current lineup, being the embodiment of a person's limits. Then, to answer Munakata's question, Maguro nominates Zenkichi to be his opponent, to everyone's shock, though Zenkichi immediately accepts it. Medaka panics and says that she really should be the one fighting, but Maguro tells her that she should trust him and let Zenkichi pamper her every once in a while, since he's the one that managed to follow her for thirteen years. Taking his jacket off, Zenkichi and Munakata face one another, Munakata saying that Zenkichi is a gentleman for taking her place, and they'd probably get along, and that's why he'll kill him. In response, Zenkichi taunts him, saying that he's not the type to let death kill him.
