Summary

The Hakoniwa Academy scholarship system is explained, expounding that the board is very generous passionate about education, giving out a scholarship to as many as one in ten students of all kinds.

Tanzaku Aso announces the second match of the event, a three legged race where pairs must swim to the end of the pool with their ankles tied together. Hansode Shiranui, her fellow commentator, says that, while the track team should normally have the advantage, she's still betting on either the swim team or the student council.

Nabeshima calls out to Medaka, noting that they're both sitting the race out, letting their teammates compete this time. She then brings up the swim team, calling them "bad guys". When Medaka asks if she knows them, Nabeshima explains that their leader, Umumichi Yakushima, is the same class as her, and calls him a different kind of genius than Medaka or Akune, an all-rounder that can perform any type of swimming, though she also says that she can never understand what he's thinking or what he wants to do. At this, Mogana Kikaijima approaches them and comments that, while she never expected her to understand what they're thinking, she'll tell them what they want to do, their objective being to make a pool filled with money and swimming in it all day.

Akune tells Zenkichi that they should give the race their all, momentarily feigning a warm, comradely attitude and shaking each others' hands before instantly letting their anger at each other out as the race begins, moreso fighting each other than cooperating as they swim at a rapid pace, insulting each other all the while, leaving the other competitors stunned at their performance. Aso then notes how Yakushima and Tanegashima are both very far behind this time, with an unsurprised Shiranui explaining that even the all-rounder Yakushima would take a while to match speed with the faster Tanegashima, right as the two begin to swim extremely fast and in a synchronized manner, everyone realizing that they're swimming with their legs tied together, Aso noting the danger of their strategy. As they begin to pass everyone, Shiranui notes that Tanegashima is the fastest in the world of men's swimming. The swim team ends up in first place, with the student council right behind them.

The following match is a solo eel catching competiton, placed in order to intentionally give the student council a handicap thanks to Medaka repelling animals. Kikaijima ends up in first place with thirteen eels, while Nabeshima catches nine. Zenkichi notes the swim team's lead, asking Akune what the final competition was, the latter explaining that they left Aso to decide the final competition for the sake of fairness. As Zenkichi notes the unfairness of letting the swim team participate, Tanegashima appears and taunts the student council, reminding them of how much they're owed. Zenkichi asks Tanegashima if money is all he thinks about, to which he gives out the idiom "money makes the world go round" while laughing maniacally, before realizing that Medaka is behind him, mimicking him and calling him pathetic. Medaka once again assumes the better of the three gold digger swimmers, and swears to reform them such that they'll give everything they earn to charity, to which Tanegashima exclaims that they'll make her sink into despair. Meanwhile, Aso, unsure of what competiton to pick, leaves the choice to Shiranui.
