"Rather than him, it should be me! I’m the one that’s more fit to be one of the twelve chiefs!"
- — Matsuzemi Maniwa
Matsuzemi Maniwa (
Personality[]
Matsuzemi was a serious and honest ninja, uncommon for the Maniwa Ninja Corps, said to value harmony among his peers. He used to be close friends with Haruzemi Maniwa. However, he was betrayed by him, who announced the incomplete ninja art Submerged Chrysalis as his own just to get ahead in the race to become one of the twelve chiefs, even though the art was a product of the two working together. Seeing this, Matsuzemi grew to hate Haruzemi and murdered him, making use of a weakness in the technique[1].
Appearance[]
Matsuzemi appears to be a slim man with sharp, slanted green eyes. He is shown wearing a cicada-themed outfit consisting of black ninja garb and pants, and a black mask which covers his face and head, with cicada wings attached to it.
Background[]
Matsuzemi had gone on assignments with Koumori Maniwa the 1st before. Matsuzemi used to be very close friends with Haruzemi, and the two came up with the new ninja art, Submerged Chrysalis. However, after being betrayed by his friend, Matsuzemi murdered Haruzemi. In response, Koumori figured out his identity and killed Matsuzemi[1].
Abilities and Equipment[]
- Ninja Art: Submerged Chrysalis (
忍法 潜 り蛹 , Ninpō: Moguri Sanagi): A technique which allows the user to submerge themselves beneath the ground without a need to use a breathing tube, while also being able to survey the surface. Matsuzemi bears the complete version of the technique, which also allows the user to move while submerged, thus getting rid of its weak point[1].
