Manabu Soutouin (
Personality[]
He is shown to be a very cheerful and carefree kid. he loves to take on missions as the leader of the Pretty Boy Detective Club!
Appearance[]
Manabu is a young boy with a small stature, spikey blue hair, thick eyebrows and big blue eyes. He is shown wearing a modified version of the Yubiwa Academy uniform, consisting of a dark green vest indentical to the blazer except without sleeves, worn over a white shirt with black cuffs and a black collar with a dark purple tie with a design reminiscent of the night sky. He also wears black and white striped pants and blue shoes with black shoelaces. While crossdressing, he wears a striped black and white skirt instead of the pants, black thigh high stockings and wears a long wig with the same color as his hair, styled in two long twintails.
Manabu's manga redesign is quite different from his original design, appearing slightly older, with his blue hair longer to the right side, and with two ahoges. He is shown wearing the uniform blazer over his shoulders, and lacking the tie, with the upper buttons of his shirt left undone. While crossdressing, he wears a shoulder-length wavy wig left untied, and dresses in the female uniform of Yubiwa Academy, but wearing a ribbon instead of the tie.

Trivia[]
- Manabu's first name means "study" or "education", and is a part of the word for "aesthetics" (
美学 , Bigaku). - Manabu's last name, Soutouin, means "double-headed temple".
- Manabu's title, Manabu the Aesthete, like the other titles of the members of the club, is composed of a word specific to the character which begins with the kanji 美, meaning "beauty", followed by the character's name in katakana.
- Manabu's appellation, Leader, as is the case for the other pretty boys, ends with the kanji 長, meaning "leader" or "chief".
- Manabu's nickname, Kogorou, is a reference to Kogorou Akechi, a fictional detective created by Ranpo Edogawa also appearing in his Boy Detective Club Series, the direct inspiration for the Pretty Boy Detective Club.
- This nickname derives from the fact that he is a 5th year elementary school student, as the kanji making up the name Kogorou mean "small", "five" and "son", where "small" is the first kanji in the word for "elementary school": (小学五年生→小五)
