Personality[]
Mahibi is a rebellious and strong-willed teenager, eager to violate the rules through his improper attire and smoking, as well as flaunting his opposition to the nearly unanimously-elected Medaka Kurokami. Though his reason for taking over the kendo club was a very inane one, merely wishing to play around with swords, she shows a remarkable dedication to the practice after being defeated by Medaka, unexpectedly sticking with her unreasonable training regiment, manifested mostly as a stubborn desire not to give in to Medaka, declaring that she won't be able to reform him. His determination is also demonstrated during his one-sided defeat against Habataki Hyuuga, whom he still refuses to surrender to, also remembering his former passion for kendo[1].

Habataki Hyuuga[]
Ever since Habataki Hyuuga's initial attack on Mahibi, the two have shared a rivalry, begrudgingly enduring each other's presence for Medaka's sake and constantly butting heads during practice, Mahibi's stubbornness and refusal to bend his ways clashing with Habataki's inconsiderate criticism and arrogance[1].
Medaka Kurokami[]
Though initially fervently opposing Medaka due to his disdain for authority, as well as being one of the few students who didn't vote for her in the student council election, after being shown up by her and subjected to her unreasonable training regiment, he eventually becomes infatuated with her due to the consideration he shows them, though he never admits it, still keeping up his defiant act[1].
Appearance[]
Mahibi is a young man with spikey red hair (blue in the anime) parted to the right, and black eyes (brown in the anime), as well as a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek. He is shown loosely wearing the Hakoniwa uniform, his white shirt unbuttoned, showcasing his black undershirt (orange in the anime), and his baggy dark blue pants have a gold chain attached to the belt. He also wears multiple black wristbands on both wrists, as well as a necklace with a metallic upside-down triangle attacked to it. He is later additionally shown wearing a blue and black kendo hakama.
Background[]
Although Hakoniwa Academy's kendo hall holds the most tradition among the school's facilities, the club was dissolved a few years prior, thanks to a lack of members, and the building remained unused. Thus, at some point, it was taken over by a group of delinquents, led by Mahibi, who began using it as their primary hang-out spot. Although Medaka presumes that Mahibi and his friends had once been loyal kendo club members, only turned to delinquents due to some tragedy, the reality is reportedly that they simply liked playing with swords. However, after Medaka's intervention, the kendo club was officially restored, and Mahibi took on the role of captain[1].
Abilities & Equipment[]

剣道 , Kendō): Though Mahibi is officially the captain of the kendo club, he spent most of his time in the clubroom hanging around with his delinquent friends, only seriously starting to practice after Medaka's intervention. As a result, he is weaker than Habataki, and easily defeated by the younger boy[1].

- Mahibi's last name is written with the characters for "gate" and "chief". As with most other characters in Medaka Box, it is taken from a place name: The Moji ward of Kitakyushu.
- Mahibi's first name is written with the characters for "truth" and "fissure".
- Like every other character in Medaka Box, Mahibi's blood type is AB.
- Mahibi was voted forty-first most popular in the first popularity poll, alongside Ranraku Yoshinogari, Unou Tsushima and the child version of Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, and fifty-seventh most popular in the second popularity poll, alongside Tanzaku Aso, Urushi Akizuki and Kizashi Yuubaru.
