Kinkaku Uneri (
Personality[]
Not much is known about Kinkaku, aside from the fact that, affected by the Deviant Blade's venom, he rebelled against his lord[1].
Appearance[]
Kinkaku's appearance is never shown.
Background[]
Ten generations of the Uneri bloodline ago, Kinkaku used to be a samurai with a modest reputation, serving a Daimyou in Tottori during the Sengoku Period. However, after the unification of the country, when the Sword Hunt was declared, Kinkaku refused to give up his weapon, and betrayed his lord, locking himself in his home and using his technique alongside the Deviant Blade to kill, in total, over ten thousand soldiers sent after him. With nobody capable of defeating him, he remained at his manor in Inaba, leaving Slash Sword as a family heirloom, eventually ending up in Ginkaku's hands[1].
Abilities and Equipment[]
- Iaido (
居合道 , Iaidō): The Uneri family's technique of quickly drawing the blade from its sheath in response to the opponent. In combination with Slash Sword: The Blunt, it makes for a perfect defense against attackers, which is why Kinkaku was able to defeat all forces sent to kill him[1]. - Slash Sword: The Blunt (
斬刀 「鈍 」, Zantō Namakura): One of Kiki Shikizaki's Twelve Possessed, the Completed Deviant Blades. It is the sharpest blade, with the ability to cut through anything, in sharp contrast with its name, meaning "blunt". It was to be unsheathed at an incredible speed. The katana has triangular patterns around its hilt guard and a black sheath[1].
Trivia[]
- Kinkaku's last name, Uneri, is written with the characters for "roof" and "polish", and is phonetically identical to the word for "surging" (
畝 り). - Kinkaku's first name means "golden tower".
- Kinkaku is never mentioned in the anime.
