Kazusaen Private Academy (
Information[]
Kazusaen Academy is a private educational institution, its building originating from a European high school which was moved to Japan ten years prior. The institution itself encompasses not only a middle school, but also a high school, placed in a separate building. The school's administration can be characterized as secretive, not letting out much information to the outside world, a fact which can be observed in the handling of Meiro Byouinzaka's situation, moving the girl to a class by herself thanks to her repulsive nature, a fact which could land the school in trouble if found out by outsiders[1].
Within the academy, there exist a group of students shunned by the general student population for their eccentricities: the Ufology Club, also referred to as the Three Great Weirdos, and separately, Meiro Byouinzaka, called the One Great Weirdo. Choushi Kushinaka also ranks as a candidate for the new generation of weirdos, being in the first year of middle school[1].
Clock Tower[]
The clock tower of Kazusaen Academy is one of the most noticeable features of the school, and a large focus in the events of the story. The clock on the tower had been broken since May of the year of Choushi's enrollment, its minute hand stuck pointing at the Ⅹ numeral while the hour hand functioned normally. Despite this glaring malfunction, the school never bothered trying to fix the mechanism, so the clock became largely ignored by the student population[1]. Choushi is later revealed to have been the one to break the mechanism, deliberately throwing a rock into the clockwork[2].
An unknown fact about the clock tower is that there is a secret route to the top of the tower, accessible using a secret key available to the Ufology Club, passed down through the generations. The small space at the top of the tower serves as a hideout for the members of the club, particularly Rouya, although Choushi was also informed about it by Kogushi[1].
Uniform[]
The female uniform of Kazusaen Academy is a beige sailor uniform with brown cuffs, a brown collar with a black outline, a black ribbon and a brown skirt, also having a black line traversing it.
The male uniform is a brown gakuran with golden buttons, golden lines on the ends of the sleeves and golden shoulder pads. Many characters are shown to have modified uniforms, such as Meiro Byouinzaka with an elongated jacket, or Rouya Gakemura with a damaged and unbuttoned one.
