Imperfect Girl (
Background[]
The novel was first released by Kodansha on September 7, 2011, on Nisio Isin's 10-year anniversary since his debut. The novel was later re-released by Kodansha Bunko on November 13, 2015. The novels also had a 3 volume manga adaptation by Mitsuru Hattori (which, according to the manga artst, was requested by the artist himself, after reading the novel). The manga series was licensed and published in English by Vertical Comics.
Premise[]
The novel is branded as not actually being fiction, but rather just a tale from the past of the narrator who, at the time, was a college student and aspiring novelist who kept getting his stories rejected. At some point, he witnessed an accident where a girl was hit by a truck while walking home from school. What made the bigger impression on him, however, was the other girl walking alongside her, who made sure to save her game before running up to her brutalized friend. Later, after heading home, he realized that the strange girl he'd seen earlier had snuck into his house, and after introducing herself as U U (she had a normal name, but as "this was a real event, not fiction", the narrator didn't say it), she kidnapped the aspiring writer in order to prevent him from revealing her strangeness.
