Personality[]
Hyouta is a cheerful and energetic boy, almost always talking in a carefree, casual manner. He is often flirtatious to girls, and has been shown to be slightly perverted, admitting to sitting upsite down on the sofa in an effort to look up Mayumi Doujima's skirt[1]. He even becomes excited at the thought of seeing Rei again, despite the woman being a dangerous criminal, purely because of her attractiveness[2]. He is a free spirit, with no regard for authority, saying that, were he in Mayumi's place, he would readily break the promise imposed on her by her parents[3]. He is also shown to be quite cheeky, often teasing Nagahiro Sakiguchi by calling him a lolicon, which usually earns him an annoyed scolding.
Hyouta is very confident in his shapely legs, the asset which he is famous for, and always tries to show them off at every opportunity, even stating that he plans to wear shorts for the rest of his life[4]. He appears very frustrated when having to wear long pants for his disguise while infiltrating the Reasonable Doubt Casino, although he still prefers that over crossdressing, which Mayumi finds strange, considering his already quite feminine appearance[5]. Hyouta is also shown to be quite brave, putting himself in danger when rescuing Mayumi from the Twenties[6].
Appearance[]
Hyouta is a short boy with curly blonde hair, yellow eyes, a feminine, cute face and shapely legs, although he is also shown to be quite toned and muscular. He is shown wearing the Yubiwa Academy uniform, consisting of a dark green blazer over a white shirt with a tie wrapped around the collar, bearing a black and blue design reminiscent of outer space. He wears a pair of black and white striped shorts, modified from the original long pants, as well as a pair of bright yellow boots with black soles and black laces.
His manga design is fairly similar to his original one, featuring longer and more spikey hair with an ahoge, his bangs parted to the sides with only one strand covering his face. In the manga, the uniform's green blazer bears red highlights, his tie is lighter in color and more purple-tinted and his shorts are black, lacking the stripes. His yellow boots also lack any laces in the manga.
Background[]
Hyouta's parents divorced when he was at a young age[3]. Additionally, he stated that he has been kiddnapped on three different occasions in the past. He is in his first year of middle school, attending Yubiwa Private Academy, where he is a part of class A and the ace of the track team. He eventually met Manabu Soutouin and joined the Pretty Boy Detective Club[1].
Abilities and Equipment[]
- Athleticism: Hyouta's forte is his athleticism, particularly his powerful legs, which are not only aesthetically pleasing but also very trained, earning him the position of track team ace. He has been shown to be capable of riding a bicycle so quickly that he can even catch up to a moving car[7].

- Hyouta's last name, Ashikaga, is written with the characters for "leg" and "benefit".
- Hyouta's first name is written with the characters for "wave" and "grand".
- Hyouta's title, Hyouta the Adonis, like the other titles of the members of the club, is composed of a word specific to the character which begins with the kanji 美, meaning "beauty", followed by the character's name in katakana.
- Hyouta's appellation, Archangel, as is the case for the other pretty boys, ends with the kanji 長, meaning "leader" or "chief".
