Girdle Lyas (ガードル・ライアス, Gādoru Raiasu) is a minor character from the Sekai Series. He is a British mystery novelist and friend of Usui Byouinzaka.

Personality

Not much is known about Girdle's personality, as he is never directly shown, and any descriptions that might give insight into his character come from Usui's manuscript. Within the novel, Girdle is shown as desperate to regain popularity after three years of not publishing anything, and takes the opportunity to perpetuate the idea of a curse after his wife and agent both coincidentally pass away after reading his new work, and ends up killing himself for that purpose.

Background

The real Girdle Lyas is an author of mystery and occult-focused novels, though none of his works are translated into Japanese. He befriended Usui through messages, never actually meeting him face to face. Within Usui's novel, he is a renowned writer with works translated into Japanese, who just completed a new manuscript for the first time in three years. However, after reading it, both his wife and agent passed away, and so he started to believe the book was cursed. As such, he asked his friend Usui for assistance, which resulted in Kuroneko Byouinzaka and Samatoki Hitsuuchi coming to London.
