The Cursing Names (呪(まじな)い名(な), Majinaina) are six families that, unlike their counterparts, employ indirect methods of murder. They are users of unusual and inexplicable techniques and abilities in the world of Zaregoto Series. Together with the Killing Names, they make up a large majority of the Violence World. The families are ranked in terms of strength, with Tokinomiya being the strongest and Toganagi the weakest. In addition, every family has an opposing Killing Name family, which shares the second kanji in their names.

Tokinomiya

The Tokinomiya Hospital (時宮病院(ときのみやびょういん), Tokinomiya Byōin), also known as Thought Manipulators (操想術師(そうそうじゅつし), Sōsōjutsushi), are the first ranked family of the Cursing Names. Strongest of these families, they are specialists in talismanship and psyche control, and control the emotion of fear to manipulate people or outright turn them into puppets. Their opposing Killing Name family is the Niounomiya.

Tsumiguchi

The Tsumiguchi Firm (罪口商会(つみぐちしょうかい), Tsumiguchi Shōkai), also known as Weapon Smiths (武器職人(ぶきしょくにん), Bukishokunin), are the second ranked family of the Cursing Names. They are a group of blacksmiths and arms dealers that create and sell some of the most powerful and well made arms in the Violence World. They have a contract with the Hakamori to supply them with new torture instruments. Their opposing Killing Name family is the Yamiguchi.

Kino

The Kino Division (奇野師団(きのしだん), Kino Shidan), also known as Poison Carriers (病毒遣(びょうどくつか)い, Byōdokutsukai), are the third ranked family of the Cursing Names. They are a group of poison specialists that utilize all sorts of known and unknown venoms that kill their targets. They themselves carry the poisons they use, having developed a tolerance to them, and transferring them to others like colds. Due to this, however, most of them are doping freaks and short lived. Their opposing Killing Name family is the Susukino.

Nukumori

The Nukumori Garden (拭森動物園(ぬくもりとうぶつえん), Nukumori Tōbutsuen), also known as Breeders (飼育員(しいくいん), Shīkuin), are the fourth ranked family of the Cursing Names. They are users of the Intracerebral Interference technique. Their opposing Killing Name family is the Hakamori.
