Background[]
The series first began serialization on October 15, 2014, debuting with the novel The Memorandum of Kyouko Okitegami, and is currently ongoing, being published in the Kodansha Box magazine.[1] Nisio has stated that he had the idea to write it ever since he wrote Koyomimonogatari. A manga adaptation of the series, illustrated by Asami, ran in the Monthly Shounen Magazine between September of 2015 and April of 2017, with a total of 5 volumes.[2] Between October 2015 and December 2015, a TV Drama adaptation of the series was serialized, with Yui Aragaki playing Kyouko.[3]
Premise[]
The series is about the Forgetful Detective, Kyouko Okitegami, a private detective who solves all of her cases in only one day, because her memories reset everytime she goes to sleep. While working, she often runs into Yakusuke Kakushidate, a man who has the misfortune of always wrapped up into incidents, and always being falsely accused and suspected for strange reasons. The story continues with the two solving various strange incidents.[1]

Each novel in the series begins with Okitegami Kyouko no... (Kyouko Okitegami's...), followed by a three kanji idiom referring to a written document (for example, Bibouroku, translated as "Memorandum", or Suisenbun, translated as "Testimonial").
